Vancouver School Board – Multi-Site Exterior Painting Program
About the Program
JPD Contracting is completing a multi-site exterior painting program for the Vancouver School Board (VSB) across four facilities in Vancouver.
The project includes work at:
- Tillicum Annex Elementary School – Building 159A
- Gordon Elementary School – Frame Building 128B
- Laurier Elementary School – Portables P133 and P199
- VSB Nursery/Grounds Yard – Buildings 146A, 146B, 146C and designated sheds
These four locations form part of VSB’s 2026 Exterior Painting at Various Sites program.
Project Scope
JPD’s work focuses on the preparation and renewal of designated exterior building surfaces. Depending on the individual site, the work includes pressure washing, surface preparation and repainting of existing exterior wood, metal, concrete and other previously painted building components.
The scope generally includes:
- Exterior pressure washing and cleaning
- Preparation of existing painted surfaces
- Scraping and sanding where required
- Priming and application of specified exterior coating systems
- Painting of designated siding, doors, windows and exterior components
- Painting of stairs, ramps, landings and handrails where included
- Protection of surrounding surfaces and occupied areas
- Access, equipment and site logistics coordination
- Project management, quality control and site safety
The individual sites have different building configurations and requirements. Gordon Elementary includes the complete frame building 128B, while Laurier Elementary involves two portable buildings.
At the VSB Nursery/Grounds Yard, the project extends across multiple buildings and includes previously painted exterior components, stairs, handrails and landings, along with pressure washing of designated vinyl siding.
Working Within Active VSB Facilities
Multi-site work requires careful sequencing, access planning and coordination to maintain safe conditions around each facility.
JPD’s approach emphasizes organized site operations, protection of existing property, appropriate separation of work areas and consistent quality control throughout surface preparation and coating installation.
By coordinating four separate locations under one program, our team is able to apply a consistent approach to safety, planning and workmanship while adapting the execution to the individual requirements of each facility.

Exterior maintenance plays an important role in protecting existing buildings from Vancouver’s weather conditions while extending the service life of exterior finishes and maintaining the appearance of public facilities.
